Just a reminder that the Newcastle Open is less than a month away. The ‘Entry Form’ can be downloaded from newy-open-tournament-entry-2016. This event was a great success last year and this year we are hoping to make it even better with interest shown from Sydney and Interstate. Newcastle players featured strongly last year and will, no doubt, do so again this year so see how you stack up against Australia’s finest and enter now.

Belmont 16′ Sailing Club No.1 def Toronto Worker’s Club to progress to the Elwyn Jones Grand Final. In the other Semi Kahibah Cobras def Belmont 16′ Sailing Club No.2. Next Monday (12/9/16) Toronto Worker’s Club play the Kahibah Cobras at Wangi Worker’s Club 7pm to see who will join Belmont No.1 in the Grand Final.

Congratulations to the Tennis Club Titans who, despite no home tables for the last couple of months, have taken out the Tony Tamplin Minor Premiership after a year long race of 30 weeks. Consistant results throughout the year have ensured the Kahibah Kings and Cessnock Ex-Services Club tied for 2nd and 3rd tied on both points and Win/Losses. Please see the attached image for finals positions and home games for all teams apart from Kahibah Kings and Cessnock No.2 which are negotiating a venue.

Members have called for a Special General Meeting to be held to discuss the future of Newcastle Snooker given the recent loss of the Newcastle District Tennis Club as a venue.

I am calling a Special General Meeting for Thursday the 25th of August 6:30pm at the Toronto Bowling Club. All Premier Snooker matches that week will be postponed a further week to facilitate this meeting. All members are encouraged to attend to have their say and vote on potential proposals to address the loss of another venue.

Could Captains, Snooker Club Presidents and members please pass this info onto those of you who don’t have email. A4 Flyer can be found here.

The NDBSA endeavours to keep it’s members informed regarding Newcastle Snooker and utilise a number of ways in which we do this.

1. Emailing – if you aren’t receiving emails from the Association at least monthly then we don’t likely have your current address. If not then please email me  or call/sms me on 0421337105 and I will add you to our email list. If you don’t have an email address and would like one I can organise a free one that you can access via your phone, tablet, or work PC.
2. Website: www.newcastlesnooker.com.au – Score, results and information is updated to the website weekly.
3. FaceBook: www.facebook.com/NDBSA is also updated with local, state and international snooker news most days.

The NDBSA is organising, for those interested, national snooker & billiards referee accreditation. There will be a group of 6 in the first workshop that would either happen 1 night a week for approximately 6 weeks or over an entire weekend. The NDBSA will cover the initial and ongoing cost of accreditation provided those participating commit to refereeing a couple of NDBSA inter-club finals.
