Official referee qualifications

The NDBSA is organising, for those interested, national snooker & billiards referee accreditation. There will be a group of 6 in the first workshop that would either happen 1 night a week for approximately 6 weeks or over an entire weekend. The NDBSA will cover the initial and ongoing cost of accreditation provided those participating commit to refereeing a couple of NDBSA inter-club finals. Spots are filling fast so contact me via email at grant@newcastlesnooker.com.au or by calling/texting 0421337105.

Marking of competition matches

The marking of matches is an important part of the weekly inter-club competition. All players for the home team are expected to mark a match and this will be reciprocated when you play at their venue. If you don’t have time to mark due to work, or other commitments then you should inform your captain and together organise a replacement marker. Playing your match at home then immediately leaving without marking is not ok and repeat offenders risk NDBSA disciplinary action. For venues with 3 tables the opposing team are encouraged to mark one match as there usually isn’t a home team-member available to mark the 3rd table. It’s the home team captains responsibility to ensure their players abide by this expectation.
