2017 Newcastle District Handicap Singles Tournament

The 2017 Newcastle District Handicap Singles Snooker Tournament will be divided into two tournaments – one for those of a handicap of 16 or above and those on 14 or below based on Tony Tamplin handicaps of the 10th of June 2017.

Handicap 14 and below – Sat 8th & Sun 9th of July 2017 at Wangi Worker’s Club

Handicap 16 and above – Sat 15th & Sun 16th July 2017 at Belmont 16′ Sailing Club

Note: If less that 16 entrants for the ’14 and below’ tournament then tournament will be combined into a single tournament on the 15th & 16th and open to players of all handicaps.

Wangi Worker’s Club – 2016/17 Rex Smith Champions

Wangi Workers Club over 50’s snooker team defeated Minor Premiers Cessnock Ex-Services Club at Belmont 16 Foot Sailing Club to claim the Rex Smith trophy in a nail biting finish. Congratulations to both teams for a hard fought grand final which saw Cessnock’s Gary Johnson have victory in his grasp in potting the final black only to see the white ball also enter a pocket.

Please support the 2017 ‘Cueing for Kids’ Tournament

SBCC’s annual charity fundraising snooker tournament, known as Cueing for Kids, will be held at Club Toukley RSL on 1st & 2nd July. Please refer to flyer for details.

We have had a good response from Newcastle players to two handicap snooker events conducted at Mingara this year, and it would be great to see this support continue for this worthy cause. Billiard tables at Club Toukley have been upgraded in connection with the recent State Minor Snooker Championship held there and are now providing significantly improved playing conditions. All players and supporters will be warmly welcomed.

Cessnock Ex-Services Club join Wangi Worker’s Club in Rex Smith Grand Final

Cessnock Ex-Services Club have joined Wangi Worker’s Club in Rex Smith Grand Final after defeating Kahibah Sports Panthers on a black ball on the final match. The Grand Final will be played at the Belmont 16′ Sailing Club on Thursday the 8th June at 1pm. Good luck to both teams and as always, spectators most welcome.
