Congratulations to the Mayfield Bowling Club No.1 team defeating Minor Premiers, the Cessnock Comets to win the 2017/18 Summer 6-Red Competition. Mayfield turned around the defeat by the Comets in the semi-final to take the trophy. Mayfield’s Michael North also took out the season high break of 40. Thanks to Bill Shoesmith, Ian Callaghan and Grant Schubert for refereeing the final and Wangi Workers Club for letting us use their fine snooker facilities.

The Summer 6-Red Grand Final will be held 7pm Wednesday the 7th March at Wangi Workers Club. The two finalists are the Cessnock Comets and the Mayfield Bowling Club No.1. Good luck to both teams and as always, spectators welcome.
Mayfield Bowling Club No.1 withstood a late fightback from the Kahibah Sports Cannons to book a place in the Grand Final. At one point Mayfield looked like they may secure a 3-0 result but Kahibah dug deep to take it to a decider. In the final game Kahibah can count themselves unlucky with the balls cruelly favouring Mayfield but at the end of the night the result reflected a strong performance by Mayfield who seemed to cope with the pressure a little better than Kahibah. Due to the NDBSA AGM being held at Kahibah Sports next week the Grand Final will be held on the 7th of March at a venue to be determined. Good luck to both finalists.
Last night Minor Premiers Cessnock Comets defeated Mayfield Bowling Club No.1 without their in-form No.1 Michael North, to advance to the Grand Final. In the minor semi Kahibah Sports Canons defeated the Mayfield Bowling Club No.2 in a hard fought battle.
Next Wednesday Mayfield Bowling Club No.1 will play Kahibah Sports Club Cannons to see who will progress to the Grand Final and meet the Cessnock Comets.

The 4-way play-off for third position in the 6-Red Summer Competition was determined on Wednesday night with Mayfield Bowling Club No.2 defeating the Tennis Club and Kahibah Sports Cannons defeating Kahibah Sports Kings. Both matches went to the 5th game and all matches were of the highest standard on Wangi Workers Club’s beautiful tables. Thank you to Ian Callaghan for attending as Committee rep and marking.
This result means that next Wednesday the 14th February will be the following matches
Mayfield No.1 vs Cessnock – Wangi 7pm Winner through to Grand Final
Mayfield No.2 vs Kahibah Sports Cannons – Belmont 7pm Winner plays loser of above match
Good Luck to all teams
Both Kahibah Sports teams, Mayfield No.2 and Tennis Club have tied for third. Under current NDBSA rules placing must be determined by play-offs. As such all 4 teams will play at 6:30pm at Wangi Workers Club on Wednesday the 7th February with a draw out of the hat to see which teams play each other. Both winning teams from the night will be equal third and will play each other the following Wednesday. Cessnock Comets are the 6-Red Minor Premiers and will play Mayfield Bowling No.1 on Wednesday the 14th of February at a venue to be determined. Good luck to all teams in the finals.
