Congratulations to the Mayfield Bowling Club No.1 team defeating Minor Premiers, the Cessnock Comets to win the 2017/18 Summer 6-Red Competition. Mayfield turned around the defeat by the Comets in the semi-final to take the trophy. Mayfield’s Michael North also took out the season high break of 40. Thanks to Bill Shoesmith, Ian Callaghan and Grant Schubert for refereeing the final and Wangi Workers Club for letting us use their fine snooker facilities.

Mayfield Bowling No.1 to meet Cessnock Comets in 6-Red Grand Final

Mayfield Bowling Club No.1 withstood a late fightback from the Kahibah Sports Cannons to book a place in the Grand Final. At one point Mayfield looked like they may secure a 3-0 result but Kahibah dug deep to take it to a decider. In the final game Kahibah can count themselves unlucky with the balls cruelly favouring Mayfield but at the end of the night the result reflected a strong performance by Mayfield who seemed to cope with the pressure a little better than Kahibah. Due to the NDBSA AGM being held at Kahibah Sports next week the Grand Final will be held on the 7th of March at a venue to be determined. Good luck to both finalists.
