4 teams tie for 3rd in 6-Red finals

Both Kahibah Sports teams, Mayfield No.2 and Tennis Club have tied for third. Under current NDBSA rules placing must be determined by play-offs. As such all 4 teams will play at 6:30pm at Wangi Workers Club on Wednesday the 7th February with a draw out of the hat to see which teams play each other. Both winning teams from the night will be equal third and will play each other the following Wednesday. Cessnock Comets are the 6-Red Minor Premiers and will play Mayfield Bowling No.1 on Wednesday the 14th of February at a venue to be determined. Good luck to all teams in the finals.

2018 Mingara Double Trouble Results

Mingara’s 15th annual “Double Trouble” snooker tournament has come to a close after two big days of competition. This year’s event attracted a field of 36 entries (72 players) who came from areas including Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Lithgow, Bathurst, Young as well as the Central Coast. Spectators were treated to some great snooker throughout the weekend, with the top 16 teams from Saturday’s round robin stage progressing to Sunday’s knockout and culminating in a very entertaining Final.

This year’s finalists were popular local Mark Sainsbury, teamed-up with visitor Gary Collins from Forster, who opposed Mingara’s very own “dynamic duo” of Mick Tolhurst and Lochie James. It was a very hard-fought and entertaining tussle which came down to the deciding frame and both teams deserve hearty congratulations. But in the end there can be only one winner – and it was the Sainsbury/Collins combination which gained the upper hand to emerge victorious and claim the title of 2018 Champions.

Newcastle’s doubles teams Nilesh Fatania & John Duchatel, Peter Hough & John Francis and last years winners Ian Olsen & Gary Robert all made notable performances making it to the tournaments quarter finals.

Mingara hosts this popular event on behalf of the Greater Western SnookerCircuit (GWSC) and many thanks must go to all players and spectators who supported this year’s tournament and made it such a success. Special acknowledgement and thanks must also go to our major event sponsor “S&J Landscaping” and Mingara Recreation Club whose support and assistance made it possible.
