Local Snooker Stalwart Frank Nash passes away

It is with great sadness that the NDSBA farewells local snooker player Frank Nash.

Frank passed away on Thursday 1st December 2016 at the age of 77 years. He was an avid and enthusiastic snooker player for Wangi Workers Club in social and N.D.B. & S.A. Inc. competition for more than 20 years since moving to Wangi from Sydney.

He was a Committee member of the N.D.B. & S.A. Inc. for quite a few years and was devoted to snooker in Newcastle.

He was a past President of Wangi Workers Club Snooker Club and Vice President at the time of his passing and also a deserved Life Member of Wangi Workers Club Snooker Club which he stated was his greatest honour.

He served as President and Committee person on the Wangi Workers Club Board of Directors for many years.

Frank will be sadly missed by his partner Fay, his family and all of his snooker friends.

Rob claims second Newcastle Open title

Robert Elsley from Mayfield has claimed his second Newcastle Open Snooker title defeating Port Macquarie star Michael Cosh. Rob got better throughout the two day competition culminating in a 4-0 frame defeat in the final of Michael who earlier obtained the tournament’s highest break with a 98 clearance. Praise from both players and spectators was given to a well run tournament by ‘Tournament Director’ Luke Green.
