Newcastle District Handicap Snooker Singles 16+ Winner

Congratulations to Annette Clifford (pictured left) of Cessnock Ex-Services Club in winning the 2017 Newcastle District Handicaps Snooker Singles (16+) Event. Annette defeated Cathy Small (pictured right) in the final 3 frames to 2 in a nail biter.

Wangi Worker’s Club snooker players featured strongly in the tournament with 3 of the 4 semi finalist from that Club.

Phenomenal result for the only two ladies in the tournament who both saw off all challengers to reach the finals from their respective halves and highlights their significant talent for the game in a traditionally male dominated sport.

Thank you to Belmont 16′ Sailing Club for allowing us to use their great Snooker Room and preparing the tables for each days play and to Chris, Grant and Neil from the Association for organising and running the tournament.

Brad Main – Winner 2017 NDBSA Snooker Handicap Champion – Lower half

Well done to Brad Main in winning the Newcastle Snooker Handicap Singles event at Wangi Worker’s Club. Brad was taken all the way in the final which went to the deciding frame by Tony Bauer who recently returned after a long absence from the game. Details of the draw can be found here. A big thank you to Wangi Worker’s for allowing us to use their great facility and Chris Mungoven and Grant Schubert for organising. Grant also took out the highest break with 61 but Brad would have surpassed if he didn’t run out of balls in a 60 break clearance in the final.

Rex Smith Over-50s and Premier League Snooker Competitions

The 2017 Rex Smith Over-50s and Premier League Snooker will start Thursday the 29th June.

The NDBSA is also proud to announce that the following competitions now come with prizemoney attached as follows…

Currently the Tony Tamplin is $2500 – in 2018 the NDBSA Committee will look at a more even distribution of prizemoney across all competitions.
As is the case with the Tony Tamplin prize money, this money is for club equipment improvement purposes only and must be used by the end of January 2018. By utilising this prizemoney for equipment improvement purposes all NDBSA members benefit by playing competition snooker with better equipment.

2017 Newcastle District Handicap Singles Tournament

The 2017 Newcastle District Handicap Singles Snooker Tournament will be divided into two tournaments – one for those of a handicap of 16 or above and those on 14 or below based on Tony Tamplin handicaps of the 10th of June 2017.

 

Handicap 14 and below – Sat 8th & Sun 9th of July 2017 at Wangi Worker’s Club

Handicap 16 and above – Sat 15th & Sun 16th July 2017 at Belmont 16′ Sailing Club

 

Note: If less that 16 entrants for the ’14 and below’ tournament then tournament will be combined into a single tournament on the 15th & 16th and open to players of all handicaps.
